BIOGRAPHY 

Meet multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, composer, and mix engineer, Jaeme Brennan McDonald. Known professionally as JME Strchild, he is the epitome of a quintessential musician — a true virtuoso whose journey is as diverse as his talent. With over three decades of experience in the industry, Jaeme’s musical odyssey began in the heart of Hartford, CT, where he was immersed in the rich tapestry of sounds from an early age.

 

Born into the music industry, Jaeme’s father, a revered session musician with ties to the legendary Sugar Hill Records house band, instilled in him a deep appreciation for music’s transformative power.

From his earliest days, Jaeme demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for multiple instruments, mastering the guitar, bass, drums, and piano with equal finesse. Jaeme’s musical prowess propelled him onto diverse stages, from intimate recording studios to electrifying live performances across the globe.

 

His journey led him to the bustling streets of London, where he tapped into the intricate world of studio technology at the esteemed On-U Sound recording facility, under the mentorship of reggae/dub legend Adrian Sherwood.

 

As the years unfolded, Jaeme’s musical horizons expanded, taking him across Europe and back to the vibrant music scenes of Boston, Philly, NYC, and beyond. 

Along the way, he’s worked with and for music legends and emerging talents alike, leaving an indelible mark with his soulful compositions and electrifying performances.

Some notable names he’s worked with behind the scenes include B.B. King, Eddie Money, Peter Wolf, and Janelle Monae. Under the moniker JME Strchild, Jaeme has released a series of genre-defying albums, each a testament to his boundless creativity and relentless pursuit of musical excellence. From the infectious grooves to the introspective melodies, Jaeme’s discography is an experience for the soul.

In 2023, the release of Lessons From the Prophet, included nine songs loosely based on the book by Kahlil Gibran. Each track is a stylistic world unto itself, all held together by soulful production that catches the ear and touches the heart. Beyond his role as a prolific recording artist, Jaeme’s passion for music extends to education, as he imparts his wealth of knowledge as a music teacher at Veritas Prep Charter School in Massachusetts.
